Urmila Matondkar Responds to Rumors of Differences with Ram Gopal Varma

Urmila Matondkar, one of the most celebrated actresses of her time, and renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) created a wave of superhit films in their collaboration. Movies like Antham, Gaayam, Rangeela, and Satya cemented their reputation as a formidable team in Bollywood. However, the duo hasn’t worked together since those successful ventures.
Recently, during an interview coinciding with the re-release of the 1998 cult classic Satya, Urmila addressed rumors of differences with RGV.
When asked directly if there were any disagreements between her and the director, Urmila denied such claims outright. She clarified that there was no specific reason behind their not collaborating again. “There’s nothing of that sort. We didn’t work together again, but there was no issue or fallout,” she said. Urmila also mentioned that she appeared in special songs in RGV's films 'Company' and 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag' after their earlier collaborations.
Praising RGV, Urmila said, “He is a great director, and I’m proud to have been a part of his films.” She also expressed interest in working again with RGV and actor Manoj Bajpayee if the opportunity arises.
Satya, which starred Urmila Matondkar and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles, was a milestone in Indian cinema, earning critical and commercial acclaim. Manoj Bajpayee won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film. Satya was re-released on January 17, rekindling fond memories of this cinematic masterpiece.
