Supreme Court Grants Major Relief to Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has received significant relief from the Supreme Court in a defamation case linked to his remarks about Union Home Minister Amit Shah ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The Supreme Court has stayed the criminal proceedings against Rahul Gandhi in this case, which was filed by BJP worker Naveen Jha.

The case was dismissed by a bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta, which heard the special leave petition filed by Rahul Gandhi. Senior advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi represented Gandhi and argued that only the aggrieved person could file a defamation case. He stated that complaints cannot be filed through proxies, citing several past judgments by courts supporting this stance.
