Should Children Abandon Their Mother at a Bus Station?: Sajjanar

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar expressed deep anguish over an incident in which an elderly woman was abandoned at a bus station by her children. The incident occurred on Monday night at the Vikarabad bus station and was later reported in the press. TSRTC depot staff displayed compassion by providing her with food and, with the assistance of police, transferred her to the Kompally orphanage.
Reacting to this incident through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sajjanar questioned, “In the twilight of her life, how can her own children fail to stand by her? What kind of cruelty is this?” He criticized the selfishness that destroys familial bonds and asked what could be gained by abandoning those who nurtured them.
Sajjanar further challenged those responsible, saying, “Imagine if your children abandon you at a bus station tomorrow—how would you feel?” He emphasized that seeking inheritance from parents without reciprocating care or responsibility is detrimental to societal values.
He also praised the Vikarabad TSRTC depot staff for their compassionate actions in comforting and assisting the elderly woman.
