Lineman Cuts Off Power to Petrol Pump Over No-Helmet Rule Enforcement in UP

In a bizarre incident in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, a petrol pump was plunged into darkness after a lineman retaliated against staff for refusing to fill his bike's tank because he wasn’t wearing a helmet. The incident, captured on the pump’s CCTV cameras, quickly went viral on social media.

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh recently introduced the 'No Helmet, No Petrol' rule across the state, effective from the start of the new year. Petrol pump operators have been instructed to strictly enforce this rule, denying fuel to bikers who fail to wear helmets. In line with this directive, staff at a petrol pump in Hapur refused to provide petrol to a man who arrived without a helmet.

Angered by the refusal, the man, who was later identified as a lineman, stormed off in frustration. In a dramatic act of retaliation, he climbed a nearby transformer and cut off the power supply to the petrol pump by severing the electrical connection. He then descended the transformer and drove away on his bike.

Following the incident, the petrol pump owner filed a complaint with the local police. Authorities have registered a case and begun an investigation into the matter.
