Indian Worker Dies While Allegedly Forced to Serve in Russian Military Amid War
Another Indian national has reportedly lost his life in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. TB Binil (32), a resident of Thrissur, Kerala, died while allegedly serving under forced circumstances in the Russian military. His relative, TK Jain (27), was injured during the same incident. According to the family, the Indian Embassy in Moscow informed them about Binil's death. The tragic news surfaced as Binil's wife was actively seeking help from officials to bring him back home safely, leaving the family devastated.
Binil and Jain had completed a mechanical diploma from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and moved to Russia in April last year through a private agent on work visas. However, upon arrival, local authorities allegedly confiscated their passports and assigned them to serve in the Russian Military Support Service. The families of both men approached the Indian government, requesting assistance to bring them back. Despite ongoing efforts for their repatriation, Binil’s sudden death and Jain’s injury have plunged their native village in Thrissur into grief.
