Soon, Government Services via WhatsApp: AP CS Vijayanand
The Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, K. Vijayanand, announced that 150 types of government services will soon be made available to citizens through WhatsApp. On Friday, Vijayanand visited the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) center located at the state secretariat. He directed RTGS to provide technological support to various government departments to enhance their performance.
He urged the RTGS team to work in line with the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and deliver better results. Vijayanand emphasized that there are vast opportunities in the current era of technology to improve governance and service delivery. He stated that he would personally oversee the functioning of RTGS going forward.
According to the Chief Secretary, CM Chandrababu Naidu is keen on bringing "WhatsApp Governance" to improve the accessibility of government services for citizens. During his interaction with RTGS officials, Vijayanand inquired about the progress of WhatsApp Governance. RTGS CEO Dinesh Kumar responded by stating that the work on the initiative was almost complete and demonstrated a prototype to the Chief Secretary.
He added that they are ready to provide 150 different services through WhatsApp and that the platform would also enable citizens to register their grievances. To ensure user-friendliness, Vijayanand suggested that the services be made available in both English and Telugu. He instructed RTGS to coordinate with every government department to ensure seamless service delivery.
Vijayanand recommended deploying representatives from RTGS to each department to engage directly with department heads and officials, understand the challenges faced in providing services, and offer suitable technological solutions. He stressed that RTGS should not merely point out the shortcomings in departments but instead focus on helping them improve their performance by leveraging its technological capabilities.
Furthermore, he advised RTGS to share innovative technologies with relevant departments and assess their additional needs through direct discussions, providing necessary technical support accordingly. The meeting was attended by RTGS Deputy CEO M. Madhuri and other officials.
