Rishabh Pant Injured by Mitchell Starc's Bowling in Sydney Test; Video Goes Viral

During the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series held at Sydney, Indian batter Rishabh Pant sustained a painful injury while facing Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. A delivery from Starc struck Pant just above his elbow, causing immediate swelling and visible bruising. Pant was seen writhing in pain on the field. Medical staff quickly attended to him, providing treatment before he resumed batting. The incident occurred during the third ball of the 35th over. After the impact, Starc approached Pant to check on his condition.

India, batting first after winning the toss, had a rocky start, losing four crucial wickets for just 72 runs. Openers KL Rahul (4) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) fell cheaply, followed by Shubman Gill (20) and Virat Kohli (17), who also failed to make a significant impact. However, Pant and Ravindra Jadeja managed to steady the innings, building a cautious partnership that lasted nearly 25 overs and added 48 runs.

Pant eventually scored 40 before being dismissed by Scott Boland. Shortly afterward, debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy departed without scoring, leaving India reeling as they lost two wickets in consecutive deliveries of the same over. At the close of play, Ravindra Jadeja (15) and Washington Sundar (0) were at the crease, with India's score at 120/6 after 57 overs. Boland was the standout performer for Australia, claiming four wickets in a stellar display of fast bowling.
