Conspiracy to Evade Loan Repayment Exposed by Ongole Police

A man in Ongole, Prakasam district, has been arrested for attempting to intimidate a creditor using fake police uniforms in a staged scenario inspired by cinema. The incident came to light after the victim lodged a complaint with the Ongole police. Prakasam District Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar provided details of the case.

Shyam Kumar, a salon owner in Bhagyanagar, Ongole, had borrowed ₹10 lakh from a local individual for personal needs. Despite the passage of six months, he failed to repay the amount. When the lender began pressuring him for repayment, Shyam Kumar devised a plan to not only evade the debt but also extort money from the lender.

Shyam Kumar approached an acquaintance, Nimmala Vijayalakshmi, a fashion designer from Hyderabad who also created YouTube videos. Offering financial compensation, he sought her help in his scheme. Vijayalakshmi arranged for four police uniforms from a costume supplier in Krishna Nagar, Hyderabad, commonly used for film shoots.

On December 29, Shyam Kumar invited the creditor to his rented room in Ongole, promising to repay the money. At the agreed time of 4:30 PM, the victim arrived, unaware of the plan. Inside the room was a woman from Vijayawada, strategically placed as part of the setup.

Suddenly, four individuals dressed as police officers barged in and assaulted the victim. They accused him of a fabricated crime and threatened to file a rape case against him. One of the impostors, wearing a Sub-Inspector’s uniform, forcibly took the victim’s ring and other belongings. They demanded ₹1.5 crore, warning that failure to pay would result in compromising photos and videos being uploaded to social media.

Realizing the plot, the victim immediately reported the incident to the Ongole Taluka Police. Upon investigation, the authorities identified the conspiracy orchestrated by Shyam Kumar. Those arrested include Nimmala Vijayalakshmi, Sandapuram Srisailam, Suresh, Amberpet Srilakshmi, Kokkiripati Durgaprasad, and Dornala Vinod Kumar. Two suspects, Raju and Dornala Srisailam, remain at large.

SP A.R. Damodar stated that all arrested individuals have been remanded in custody. Investigations are ongoing to locate the absconding accused and determine the full scope of the conspiracy.
