Rohit Sharma Set to Retire from Test Cricket: Consultations with BCCI Selectors Completed

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, is reportedly preparing to bid farewell to Test cricket following the conclusion of the fifth and final Test match against Australia in the ongoing five-match series, according to The Times of India. Known as the "Hitman," Rohit has already discussed his decision with senior officials and selectors of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The report indicates that Rohit is unlikely to reverse his decision.

While an official announcement regarding the timing of his retirement has not yet been made, it is anticipated that the declaration will come after the final Test match, scheduled to be played in Sydney. However, there are speculations that if India qualifies for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Rohit might consider continuing until then.

Rohit’s recent form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 has drawn widespread criticism. In the three Tests played so far, he has scored a mere 31 runs in total. Comparatively, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has taken 30 wickets in the series, leading to sharp critiques of Rohit's performance. On social media, cricket fans have trolled the Indian captain, while several former cricketers have expressed dissatisfaction with his form and leadership.
