Bihar Students Clash with Police, Case Filed Against Prashant Kishore
In Bihar, political strategist Prashant Kishore, leaders of his party Jan Suraaj, several coaching center owners, and about 700 unidentified protesters have been named in a police case. The allegations include unlawful assembly and disturbing public peace.
The unrest stemmed from allegations of a leaked question paper related to the 70th Combined Competitive Exam. Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants organized a large-scale protest in Patna, demanding a re-examination. Protesters gathered at Gandhi Maidan and intended to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to press their demands.
Prashant Kishore expressed his support for the students' agitation and joined their march. He announced that student representatives would meet the Chief Secretary. However, the students insisted on meeting only the Chief Minister. The situation escalated, leading to a confrontation with the police.
Protesters damaged loudspeakers and clashed with officials, including district magistrates and police officers. The police deployed water cannons to disperse the crowd. Following the violence, the police filed cases against several individuals, including coaching center operators and protesters, for their involvement in the unrest.
