Former Rulers Destroyed the Capital Through Division: Minister Narayana
Municipal and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana criticized the previous governments for causing complete destruction of the state capital by fostering divisions. He made these remarks while unveiling the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) Central Zone Diary 2025 in Vijayawada on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Minister Narayana highlighted the dire state of the real estate sector in Andhra Pradesh over the past five years. He stated, "Everyone is aware of how poorly the real estate sector has performed in recent years. After being assigned the urban development portfolio for the second time, the Chief Minister has instructed me to implement measures to revitalize the real estate sector."
He elaborated that the government studied real estate development in other states and introduced several reforms to stimulate the sector in Andhra Pradesh. The minister announced that by the end of this month, a notification would be issued to simplify approvals for building constructions and layouts. He added that permissions for cellar constructions in buildings exceeding 500 meters in height were already being granted.
Minister Narayana further mentioned that road widths in layouts had been revised, reducing the previous standard of 12 meters to 9 meters. To streamline the approval process, the government is introducing a single-window online system, which is expected to become operational by the end of February. These reforms aim to ensure that building permissions are issued within 15 days.
The minister also disclosed that work in Amaravati would resume after Sankranti. He emphasized that the real estate sector's revival is essential for improving the state’s economic conditions and urged real estate developers to collaborate with the government.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Chinni, MLAs Bonda Uma and Yarlagadda Venkatravu, along with other dignitaries, attended the event. On this occasion, NAREDCO representatives honored Minister Narayana for his contributions.
