Nitish Reddy Achieves Rare Feat in Boxing Day Test; Sets Record as First Indian Cricketer
Nitish Kumar Reddy, a young Indian cricketer, achieved a remarkable milestone during the ongoing Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series, Nitish Kumar Reddy smashed eight sixes, becoming the first Indian player to achieve this feat in a single series in Australia.
With this achievement, Nitish Kumar Reddy joined the elite company of England’s Michael Vaughan and West Indies’ Chris Gayle. Vaughan hit eight sixes during the 2002–03 Ashes series in Australia, while Gayle matched this in the 2009–10 tour of Australia.
Nitish Kumar Reddy also played a crucial knock in the fourth Test, rescuing India from the threat of a follow-on with a brilliant half-century. On a pitch where senior batsmen struggled, the Telugu youngster showcased his resilience and skill, steering Team India towards a stable position. He is currently nearing his maiden Test century, having already stitched a century partnership with Washington Sundar.
On the third day of play, both Nitish Kumar Reddy and Sundar reached their half-centuries, an impressive feat under the circumstances. At stumps, India’s score stood at 346/7 in 110 overs, with Nitish Kumar Reddy unbeaten on 95 and Washington Sundar on 50.
