Telugu Serial Actress Files Complaint; Kannada Actor Arrested for Threats

Police have arrested Kannada television serial actor Charith Balappa for allegedly sexually harassing a young actress and blackmailing her using private videos. Following a complaint filed by the actress on December 13, authorities registered a case and took the actor into custody. According to the police, the accused had been harassing the victim since 2023.

The victim, who has been acting in Kannada and Telugu serials since 2017, became acquainted with the accused last year. Their friendship later developed into a romantic relationship, after which the harassment began. In her complaint, the actress stated that Charith not only mentally harassed her but also threatened to kill her.

Taking advantage of her living alone, the accused allegedly pressured her into a physical relationship. He often created disturbances near her home with his associates and warned her of severe consequences if she refused to meet his financial demands. Furthermore, Charith threatened to release her private videos on social media and share them in WhatsApp groups involving other actors, using the threat as a means of blackmail.

The actress also alleged that Charith leveraged his connections with politicians and rowdy elements to intimidate her. She claimed that he threatened to have her jailed if she did not comply with his demands. Additionally, the actress revealed in her complaint that Charith is a divorcee and repeatedly used death threats to coerce her into submission.
