Former IAS Officer Imtiaz Ahmed Resigns from YSRCP

Imtiaz Ahmed, a former IAS officer and in-charge of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Kurnool, announced his resignation from the party today. Ahmed declared that he would no longer participate in politics and instead focus on social service activities. He stated that the decision to step down was made after consultations with family members and close associates.

Ahmed contested as the YSRCP candidate for the Kurnool Assembly seat in the previous elections but was defeated. Following the party’s victory in 2019, Ahmed was appointed as the Krishna district collector, where he served before retiring from civil service. Upon expressing interest in politics, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy brought Ahmed into the party, even allocating him a ticket over the sitting MLA in Kurnool.

However, Ahmed lost the Kurnool Assembly seat to T.G. Bharat of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Since his electoral defeat, Ahmed has maintained a low profile within party activities.
