Cherukumalli Srinivasarao Becomes First Telugu Director of Indian Agricultural Research Institute

Dr. Cherukumalli Srinivasarao has been appointed as the Director of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), marking the first time a Telugu individual has held this prestigious position. The IARI, a central government organization, plays a vital role in advancing India’s agricultural sector. Dr. Srinivasarao officially assumed his responsibilities today in New Delhi.

Hailing from Anigandlapadu village in the erstwhile Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Srinivasarao was born on October 4, 1965. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Bapatla Agricultural College and went on to pursue a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Agriculture in Delhi.

Following his advanced education, Dr. Srinivasarao held various positions in multiple research organizations, gaining extensive experience in agricultural research and management. Until his recent appointment, he served as the Director of the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM).
