Unexpected Setback for India Ahead of Fourth Test Against Australia
The fourth Test match between India and Australia is set to begin on December 26 at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). However, just four days before the match, the Indian cricket team encountered an unexpected concern as captain Rohit Sharma suffered an injury during a net session.
Rohit sustained a blow to his knee while practicing. Although he continued with the session despite experiencing pain, he eventually required medical assistance. Team physiotherapists were seen applying a bandage to his knee, after which Rohit was spotted sitting on a chair, visibly in discomfort. Photos of the incident have been widely circulated on social media.
While reports suggest the injury is not severe, the team management is likely to assess his condition carefully before the match. This development adds to India’s injury concerns, as key batsman KL Rahul is already nursing an injury and is doubtful for the fourth Test. With both Rohit and Rahul facing fitness issues, the Indian team may have to contend with a significant injury burden as they head into the crucial match.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Indian squad continued their preparations with intensive net sessions. Notable performances were observed from pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep, who spent substantial time honing their skills. Additionally, senior players Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar were also actively involved in the practice.
