Man Brings ₹80,000 in Coins to Court Amid Divorce Case; Judge Intervenes
A unique incident took place in Tamil Nadu, where a man expressed his frustration in an unusual manner during a divorce case. The Coimbatore Additional Family Court had ordered a 37-year-old taxi driver to pay ₹80,000 as interim alimony to his wife. In a surprising move, the man showed up at the court carrying ₹80,000 entirely in coins.
The man, who works as a taxi driver in Coimbatore, had been embroiled in a legal battle after his wife filed for divorce in 2023. During the proceedings, the court directed him to pay ₹2 lakhs as interim alimony, with an immediate payment of ₹80,000 required. However, rather than complying in a conventional manner, the man arrived at the court with 20 sacks filled with coins in denominations of ₹1 and ₹2.
Upon witnessing this act, the judge expressed strong disapproval and instructed the man to return with the amount in currency notes instead. The man's apparent intent to inconvenience his wife through this gesture did not go unnoticed, as the court viewed the action as disruptive. Following the judge’s directive, the man left with the sacks of coins in his car.
A video capturing this peculiar event has since gone viral on social media.
