Gorantla Madhav Appointed as YSRCP State Spokesperson
Former MP Gorantla Madhav has been appointed as the state spokesperson of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). According to a statement from the party’s central office on Thursday, YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy made the appointment following his directive.
As part of efforts to strengthen the party’s organizational structure, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been conducting district-wise meetings with leaders in recent weeks. Several district and constituency in-charges have been reshuffled, and senior leaders are being assigned key positions in the state committee. Leaders known for their sharp rhetoric against political opponents are being appointed as party spokespersons.
On Thursday, Jagan held a meeting with party leaders from the erstwhile Anantapur district. Shortly after, he issued orders appointing former MP Gorantla Madhav, who hails from the same district, as the party's state spokesperson.
Before entering politics, Gorantla Madhav served as a Circle Inspector (CI) in Anantapur district. He gained statewide fame after publicly challenging senior leader J.C. Diwakar Reddy by twirling his mustache during a political confrontation. In 2018, Madhav voluntarily retired from the police service and joined YSRCP. He contested the 2019 general elections as the YSRCP candidate from the Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency and won against senior TDP leader and former MP Nimmala Kistappa.
