BJP MPs Pushed Me, I Got Injured: Kharge Writes to Lok Sabha Speaker

Violence erupted in Parliament today following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Ambedkar, sparking outrage among opposition MPs. A physical altercation ensued between MPs from the NDA and INDIA blocs, leaving BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput injured.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi sustained a deep head wound that required stitches. Both injured MPs were admitted to the ICU at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment.

In response, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging that BJP MPs pushed him near the Makar Dwar entrance during the altercation. He claimed he lost balance and fell, injuring his knees.

Kharge explained that he had undergone knee surgery earlier, and the fall aggravated his pre-existing knee injury. He said Congress MPs brought a chair for him to sit on, after which he limped his way into the session.

Kharge demanded an inquiry into the incident, calling the attack on the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha deplorable.
