‘CINTAA’ Scam: Cyber Fraudsters Cheat Actress Mahima Gaur

Actress Mahima Gaur (24) fell victim to a cyber scam involving fraudsters impersonating representatives of the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA). Residing in Kundanbagh, Hyderabad, the actress received a call on December 6 from a person named Ranjan Shahi, who introduced himself as a film producer. Subsequently, another woman, identifying herself as Anita, claimed to be the HR Director from CINTAA.

The fraudsters convinced Mahima Gaur that she could obtain a lifetime CINTAA membership for ₹50,500. Believing their claims, she transferred the specified amount in three installments to the provided bank account. However, when they demanded additional payments, suspicion arose, prompting her to contact the Cyber Helpline.

Acting swiftly, the police blocked ₹20,200 from reaching the fraudsters’ account. Following Mahima Gaur's complaint, a formal case was registered, and an investigation is underway.
