Bengaluru Techie’s Wife, Family Members Arrested After His Suicide

Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhash, who died by suicide due to alleged harassment from his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family, has triggered nationwide attention. On Saturday, police arrested Nikita along with her mother and brother. They were produced in court, which sent them to judicial custody. Authorities confirmed that Nikita's uncle is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to locate him.

The 24-page letter and 80-minute selfie video written by Atul Subhash before his suicide have caused a nationwide sensation. In his letter and video, Atul demanded justice, revealing how some women, like his wife, are misusing the law meant to protect women from harassment. Atul pleaded in the video, stating that he was not given a chance to speak about the judicial system and requested to be heard at least in his final moments.

In his video, Atul emotionally detailed the mental agony he endured due to frequent court appearances in Gurugram while residing in Bengaluru. He alleged that his wife and her family extorted money from him and filed fabricated cases, forcing him and his family into continuous legal battles. With tears in his eyes, he pleaded for justice, emphasizing how his wife’s accusations affected not just him but also his family.

Atul’s suicide letter, addressed to the President of India, intensified public outrage. Many social media users demanded Nikita’s arrest and her immediate termination from her job. The flood of online petitions and comments prompted the company where Nikita worked to temporarily restrict activity on its official Twitter handle.
