YS Sharmila Slams Chandrababu’s Six-Month Governance
On completing six months in power, the Andhra Pradesh alliance government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu came under fire from State Congress President YS Sharmila. She criticized the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP coalition, calling their governance "completely meaningless" and accusing them of failing to deliver on key election promises.
Sharmila questioned the status of the coalition’s much-publicized “Super Six” promises and claimed that 60 commitments from their manifesto remain unfulfilled. She pointed out delays in implementing several welfare schemes, including free LPG cylinder distribution, ₹3,000 monthly unemployment benefits, and the creation of 2 million jobs.
She also highlighted the stalled payments of ₹15,000 per student and ₹20,000 for farmers under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. “It has become a ‘Dukhhibhava’ scheme instead,” she remarked.
Targeting women’s welfare, Sharmila criticized the government for failing to provide ₹1,500 monthly support to every woman and free bus travel for women in RTC buses. “They talk about free travel only during festivals and events,” she added.
She further alleged delays in teacher recruitment notifications despite earlier promises to sign the first file on DSC recruitment on June 12. “Even the free sand policy hasn’t brought relief,” she charged.
Sharmila accused the government of imposing ₹17,500 crore in additional taxes and raising liquor prices under the pretext of quality improvement. “Between 2014 and 2019, Chandrababu Naidu showed ‘Vaikuntha in his palm.’ Now, he is showing ‘Kailasa’ in the same hand,” she quipped.
Addressing the coalition’s justification for its slow progress, she said, “When questioned, they blame the previous government, claiming the state is still on a ventilator.”
Concluding her remarks, Sharmila declared, “The honeymoon period is over. People won’t be satisfied with mere words. It’s time for the government to act and fulfill its promises.”
