Raghurama Krishna Raju Torture Case: Police Question GGH Doctors
In a significant development in the custodial torture case involving Raghurama Krishna Raju, former MP and current Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, the police have intensified their investigation.
Earlier, the investigating officers arrested retired CID officer Vijay Paul, who is currently in jail for his alleged role in the case. Recently, the police questioned several medical professionals from Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) who were involved in providing medical reports on Raghurama Krishna Raju during the time of his alleged torture.
One of the key accused in the case, Dr. Neelam Prabhavati, the former Superintendent of Guntur GGH, has been named as the fifth accused. She faces allegations of pressuring medical staff to submit false reports stating that Raju was not subjected to any physical torture during his custody. While the police are set to interrogate Dr. Prabhavati, she has already filed an anticipatory bail petition in the court.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, the police interrogated three medical professionals who were part of the medical examination team for Raghurama Krishna Raju. These include Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Satish Kumar, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajendra, and ECG Technician Nagaraju. The interrogation was conducted at the Ongole District SP office under the supervision of SP Damodar Veeri, who recorded their statements.
This case continues to draw attention as the police probe further into the alleged misuse of medical authority and the circumstances surrounding Raghurama Krishna Raju’s detention and torture.
