Sharmila Accuses Jagan of Receiving ₹1,750 Crore Bribe from Adani
AP Congress President Y.S. Sharmila has alleged that the former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is cleverly deflecting allegations of receiving ₹1,750 crore in bribes from Adani. Referring to reports from an American investigative agency, she questioned Jagan's involvement in power agreements with Adani, asking, "If not Jagan, who was the Chief Minister in 2021 when these deals were made?"
Sharmila accused Jagan of benefiting from the controversial agreements and reminded that even TDP leader Payyavula Keshav previously alleged significant irregularities in Adani's deals during their time in opposition. She also noted that the TDP had taken the issue to court but, after coming to power, had failed to act on the matter.
Sharmila demanded an explanation for the silence of the current TDP government and raised questions about whether the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu received money from Adani or feared confronting him. She criticized both Jagan and Chandrababu for failing to cancel the questionable agreements.
Pointing out that Jagan had previously canceled deals made during Chandrababu’s tenure, she questioned why Chandrababu isn’t taking similar action against Jagan’s agreements. Sharmila also condemned the burden of increased electricity tariffs on the public, accusing the government of ignoring clear evidence of corruption.
She demanded the cancellation of these agreements, called for central intervention, and stated that she wrote to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) seeking a review and cancellation of the deals.
