Give Jagan an Oscar, Accept the Challenge if You Dare: YS Sharmila’s Provocative Tweet

YS Sharmila, Andhra Pradesh Congress President and daughter of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, has launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Through a series of tweets, Sharmila accused Jagan of corruption and deceit, suggesting he deserves an "Oscar for weaving lies beautifully."

She criticized Jagan for avoiding crucial questions and demanded transparency before seeking accolades or recognition. Sharmila’s allegations centered on power agreements, especially with the Adani Group, and the financial burden allegedly placed on Andhra Pradesh citizens.

Key Allegations in Sharmila’s Tweets:

Overpriced Power Purchases:

Sharmila pointed out that in May 2021, while the maximum unit price for electricity in auctions was ₹2.14, Jagan’s government procured power at ₹2.49 per unit. She questioned why such deals warranted accolades.
Citing Gujarat’s deal with Adani at ₹1.99 per unit, she accused Jagan of overspending ₹0.50 per unit for the same supplier, adding a significant financial burden to Andhra Pradesh.

Adani Agreements:

Sharmila alleged that while no other state entered into agreements with Adani, Jagan’s government rushed into a deal. She accused the Chief Minister of making unprecedented concessions and prioritizing personal gains over public welfare.
The decision to purchase overpriced power from Adani while claiming no transmission charges contradicted Jagan’s energy department’s earlier statements, she said.

International Scandal:

Sharmila referenced reports by U.S. investigation agencies, including the FBI and SEC, claiming they revealed a ₹1,750 crore corruption scandal involving Jagan and Adani in solar power agreements.
She accused Jagan of demanding bribes before signing agreements and alleged a history of impropriety documented in a detailed 100-page report.

Previous Government Allegations:

Sharmila also questioned why, despite accusing the previous TDP government of imposing ₹35,000 crore burdens, Jagan’s government failed to investigate or overturn long-term agreements.
She alleged that assets like Gangavaram Port were sold at undervalued prices to Adani, further benefitting the conglomerate at the state’s expense.

Daring Challenge:

She called upon Jagan to swear on the Bible to deny these allegations, daring him to prove his innocence.
Sharmila said, “If you truly gained nothing from these deals and there were no secret agreements with Adani, why not take an oath on the Bible and clarify your position?”

YS Sharmila’s accusations have added fuel to the ongoing political battle in Andhra Pradesh. Her challenge to Jagan Mohan Reddy to respond directly to her allegations has intensified public scrutiny over the state’s power policies and ties with Adani.
