Prosecution Reveals Details in Raghu Rama Custodial Torture Case

In connection with the case involving the alleged illegal arrest and third-degree torture of RaghuRama Krishna Raju, retired CID ASP Vijay Paul was arrested on Tuesday night by Ongole SP Damodar.

Yesterday, following medical examinations, Vijay Paul was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Police subsequently transferred him to Guntur District Jail. Prosecutions Joint Director V. Rajendra Prasad made significant statements regarding the case.

He revealed that RaghuRama Krishna Raju was subjected to severe torture in custody. He noted that Raju, who had entered the CID office walking, was unable to walk when he left. Rajendra Prasad alleged that Raju's legs were tied with ropes, and he was beaten. He further claimed that there was even an attempt to kill RaghuRama Krishna Raju during custody. Rajendra Prasad also mentioned that the doctors at Guntur Government Hospital, who provided a false report at the time, are also accused in the case.

He disclosed that 27 individuals had been interrogated in connection with the case. He affirmed that all those present during the incident were questioned and that they concluded RaghuRama Krishna Raju was indeed tortured. Rajendra Prasad also mentioned that videos of Raju’s torture were recorded and shared with higher authorities at the time. The identity of these higher authorities is expected to be revealed soon.
