Nara Lokesh Unveils NTR Statue in Atlanta, Vows to Uphold His Vision

Minister of Education, IT, and Electronics for Andhra Pradesh, Nara Lokesh, is currently touring the United States with a focus on attracting substantial investments to the state. During this tour, he attended the unveiling ceremony of a statue of N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) in Atlanta, where he praised NTR as the pride of the Telugu people and committed to carrying forward his legacy.

CBN’s Contributions Recognized Internationally

Addressing the gathering, Lokesh credited Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu (CBN) for Andhra Pradesh’s global recognition, stating that his leadership is why the world is looking toward AP. Lokesh highlighted Naidu’s achievements, such as convincing Tata Chairman N. Chandrasekaran to bring TCS to the state in just 90 minutes and securing an appointment with Satya Nadella through a single email. Lokesh explained that this reputation allows him to attract Fortune 500 companies to invest in Andhra Pradesh.

Tributes to NTR’s Legacy

Minister Lokesh unveiled NTR’s statue in Cumming near Atlanta, an initiative by the NTR Trust, with supporters showering flowers from a helicopter as they chanted in tribute. Lokesh lauded NTR as the embodiment of discipline and determination and the champion of Telugu self-respect, emphasizing that he was the first leader to bring welfare initiatives to the country. Lokesh vowed to continue promoting NTR’s vision through the party.

Injustice to Naidu and the Support from the Telugu Diaspora

Expressing disappointment over Naidu’s recent imprisonment, Lokesh noted the worldwide protests by the Telugu diaspora, which provided immense support during difficult times. He recalled Brahmani’s question, asking if such political tactics were necessary, and referenced a recent gathering in Hyderabad where 45,000 people attended to express gratitude for Naidu.

NRIs as "Most Reliable Indians"

During his week-long tour in the U.S., Lokesh met with investors to promote Andhra Pradesh, commending NRIs as the “Most Reliable Indians” (MRI) for their dedication and commitment to the state. He appreciated their support, saying it made him feel like he was back in Andhra, not Atlanta. Lokesh highlighted how many NRIs invest part of their earnings back into their homeland, recalling examples of some who spent up to INR 2 lakh on travel expenses to return and vote in the elections.

Challenges Faced by NRIs and AP’s Recent Struggles

Lokesh spoke of the adverse impacts on NRIs and local investors following the YSR Congress Party's (YSRCP) policies, sharing incidents where investors faced harassment and obstacles. Recalling his own experiences of opposition from the previous government during his "Yuvagalam" padayatra, Lokesh affirmed that he would work tirelessly to bring investments back to Andhra Pradesh, which, he said, have recently migrated to neighboring states.

Commitment to Revitalize Andhra Pradesh

Lokesh pledged to reestablish Andhra Pradesh on a path of progress, stating that the TDP will address the injustices and challenges faced by the state. He urged Telugu people worldwide to strive for leadership in global business, aligning with Naidu’s vision. Lokesh emphasized that the TDP-led coalition would fulfill its election promises, including providing free gas cylinders for households during Diwali and raising pensions.
