Minister Nara Lokesh Advocates Reducing App Burden on Teachers
State Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, has directed officials to ensure that teacher transfers are conducted transparently henceforth. During a review meeting with senior officials of school education at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the minister discussed the necessary changes and measures to improve standards in school education. He instructed the Commissioner to develop policies that prevent political pressures in teacher transfers, as experienced previously, and to consider the suggestions and advice from teacher associations.
Minister Lokesh emphasized the need to reduce non-teaching tasks and the burden of unnecessary apps on teachers, allowing them to focus entirely on teaching. He also suggested involving parent committees in the provision of basic facilities in schools. Furthermore, he ordered the submission of detailed reports on closed schools in the upcoming review meeting. Several suggestions were made to ensure the provision of quality meals under the midday meal scheme.
The minister inquired about the required funds to provide full-fledged infrastructure in schools. He instructed officials to investigate the reasons behind the significant transfer of students from government to private schools over the past five years and submit a comprehensive report. A detailed discussion was held on the measures needed to improve children's learning outcomes and educational standards. The minister called for a study on the best educational practices implemented in the country and abroad to provide a report on these.
During the meeting, Minister Lokesh referred to the educational systems of developed countries like Germany and Austria. He gathered details from officials on the shortage of schools in the Rayalaseema region and the necessity to establish new schools. School Education Secretary Kona Shashidhar, School Education Commissioner Suresh Kumar, Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, and Adult Education Director Nidhi Meena were among the participants in the review meeting.
