TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu took charge as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. He assumed office at the First Block of the Secretariat in Amaravati at 4:41 PM. Following a ritual performed by Vedic scholars, he took on his duties. Upon his arrival at the Secretariat after five years, he was greeted warmly by capital city farmers who decorated the streets with flowers. Additionally, Secretariat employees and officials welcomed him. The Chief Secretary, DGP, ministers, and All India Services officials extended their congratulations to the new Chief Minister.

First Signature on Mega DSC

After assuming office, the Chief Minister signed files to fulfill the promises made during the elections. His first signature was on the Mega DSC file, fulfilling his promise to fill 16,347 teacher posts, in the presence of unemployed youth.

Second Signature on Land Titling Act Repeal

The second promise fulfilled was the repeal of the Land Titling Act, which was done in the presence of farmers. Naidu stated that the act, introduced by the previous government, had many issues and caused difficulties for landowners. The act was being repealed to protect the rights of the landowners.

Third Signature on Pension Increase

The third signature was on the file to increase social pensions to Rs. 4,000, done in the presence of beneficiaries. Naidu highlighted that the pension, initially started by NTR at Rs. 35 and raised by him to Rs. 75 during the unified state, was further increased post-division. The current government had only incremented it by Rs. 1,000. Keeping his election promise, the pension was raised to Rs. 4,000, with an additional Rs. 1,000 for April, May, and June, totaling Rs. 7,000 for July. The pension for the disabled was increased to Rs. 6,000, which would result in Rs. 12,000 being distributed in July due to the three-month arrears.

Fourth Signature on Skill Enumeration

The fourth signature was on the Skill Enumeration program aimed at assessing and training youth skills. Naidu emphasized the importance of knowledge and skills for achieving personal goals and adapting to the knowledge economy. The program was introduced to ensure the state’s workforce could compete globally and prevent the need for importing skilled labor from other states when investments came in.

Fifth Signature on Anna Canteens Revival

The fifth signature was on the revival of Anna Canteens, providing affordable meals to the poor. The TDP government had previously introduced these canteens offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Rs. 5 each. However, the previous administration had closed them down. Naidu promised to restart these canteens and determine the necessary number to meet public needs.
