Tragic Drowning of Two Telugu Students in America

In a sorrowful incident that raises concerns over the safety of Indian students abroad, two Telugu students recently drowned in a waterfall accident in the United States. Rakesh Reddy Lakkireddy (23) and Rohith Manikantha Repala (25), both graduates from the University of Arizona, tragically lost their lives shortly after obtaining their Master's degrees. The accident occurred just days after their graduation, bringing to light this devastating event.

The two were part of a group of 16 friends visiting the renowned Fossil Creek waterfall in Arizona. It was during this outing that Rakesh and Rohith tragically drowned. Despite immediate response and extensive search efforts by local police, their bodies were not recovered until the following day, found at a depth of about 25 feet by divers.

Rakesh Reddy, the only child of Chandra Shekar Reddy and Padma, who are heads of Montessori and Narayana schools in Khammam city, Telangana, had moved to America to pursue higher education in Computer Science Engineering. His parents had traveled to the U.S. to celebrate his academic achievement, only to face this tragic loss during their visit. Arrangements are being made to transport their bodies back home within the next couple of days. More details regarding Rohith Manikantha, who completed his MS in Information Technology, are yet to be disclosed.
