No truth in scrapping Vizag rail zone, panel formed for HQ building construction: GVL
Amaravati, September 28: BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao on Wednesday gave clarity over the news reports of Central government went back on its promise to establish railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters in Andhra Pradesh as assured in the AP Reorganisation Act.
The MP said that railway zone was sanctioned to AP by the Modi government despite Railway Board saying, ‘no viability.’ Even the Central Cabinet gave approval for the railway zone, he mentioned and made it clear that there is no need for Union Cabinet nod once again.
GVL stated that the Centre initiated measures for setting up railway zone in Visakhapatnam. “Today morning, I spoke to Railway Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) V K Tripathi,” the MP said and explained that Tripathi told him that a committee was constituted for construction of headquarters building to South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) in Vizag. He further said that the BJP will organise Praja Poru in AP till October 2.
