No govt at Centre dared to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day: Amit Shah
Hyderabad, September 17: “All political parties and successive Central governments were scared to conduct Telangana Liberation Day,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing a gathering at Liberation Day celebrations organised at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Saturday.
Amit Shah mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave orders to hold year-long celebrations of Telangana liberation. “Some regions in Hyderabad state, Karnataka and Maharashtra secured freedom on September 17 with the efforts of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel after he annexed Nizam-ruled state into the Union of India,” he recalled and said people of Hyderabad celebrated independence a year later.
The Union Minister further said that Vallabhbhai Patel put an end to atrocities of Razakars through a military operation called ‘Operation Polo’. He criticised the TRS government for organising National Integration Day on September 17 instead of Telangana Liberation Day. Union Minister Kishan Reddy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other BJP leaders were present.
