Amaravati farmers launch padayatra 2.0 after offering prayers to Lord Venkateswara
Amaravati, September 12: As announced, farmers of Amaravati capital region launched maha padayatra 2.0 on Monday after offering prayers at TTD’s Lord Venkateswara temple in Venkatapalem. Walkathon comprising farmers and women will reach Mangalgiri today evening via Krishnayapalem, Penumaka and Yerrabalem covering a distance of 15 km.
During the launch of padayatra 2.0, former TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, leaders of Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi (APS) and JAC were present. 1000-km walkathon from Amaravati to Arasavalli in Srikakulam district was taken up on the occasion of agitation reaching 1,000 days opposing three capitals for Andhra Pradesh.
Farmers and women will explain to people during padayatra that development of Amaravati as sole capital of AP will benefit all regions of the state. The AP High Court gave nod to padayatra after the DGP denied permission citing that law and order will be disturbed. However, it said that only 600 participants are allowed to take part in padayatra.
