Yanam: Governor Tamilisai makes interesting comments on cloudburst
Yanam: Puducherry Lieutenant-Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday toured flood-hit areas in Yanam and interacted with people. She held a review meeting on flood situation in Yanam with ministers and district collector.
Officials explained her regarding various relief measures taken up by the administration for flood-affected people. She was also briefed about damage to properties and crops due to Godavari floods.
Speaking to the media, Tamilisai responded to cloudburst indirectly referring to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. “We won’t allow cloudburst in Yanam,” she stated. She ruled out cloudburst responsible for floods in states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Puducherry.
“This time, Telugu states received more floods compared to annual average because of heavy rains in upstream catchment areas in adjacent states,” she explained. On Monday, she held a Mahila Darbar at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad and received petitions from women. National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma also heard grievances of women in Mahila Darbar.
