Hyd: 20,000 workers of 24 crafts launch strike demanding wage rise, break to film shootings

Hyderabad, June 22: More than 20,000 workers of 24 crafts on Wednesday launched an indefinite strike seeking better wages and working conditions at the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation. They said that wage hike was promised four years ago but it was not fulfilled under the pretext of pandemic.

The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and Telugu Film Producers’ Council are yet to announce enhanced wages. Leaders of workers’ unions have made it clear that they will not withdraw strike unless wages are hiked. However, the strike of cine workers will affect the ongoing shootings of films in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, senior actor Naresh released a video and said that 20 films are currently in shooting at various outdoor locations. He made an appeal to workers of 24 crafts to cooperate with the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation and Telugu Film Producers’ Council so that major crisis is averted. He further mentioned that the Telugu Film Industry is limping back from the pandemic.
