TRS leaders slam TPCC chief Revanth’s comments on castes
Hyderabad, May 23: TPCC president Revanth Reddy’s remarks on Reddy and Velama castes raked up a controversy. While addressing a meeting, he said that Reddy kings, who were feudatories to the Kakatiya dynasty, have protected the kingdom from Muslim rulers when Rani Rudrama Devi was ruler.
Revanth stated that Rudrama Devi’ successor Prataparudra Deva did not trust Reddy kings instead reposed faith in Velama kings and lost to Delhi rulers. He advised political parties to hand over leadership to Reddy politicians to succeed in politics.
The TPCC chief mentioned that Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is an example, who brought back Congress to power in the combined Andhra Pradesh state. TRS MLC and Telangana Rythu Bandhu Samithi president Palla Rajeshwar Reddy has condemned remarks made by the Congress leader. He alleged that Revanth secured TPCC president post by paying money to Congress high command. Taking dig at Revanth, Minister Errabelli Dayakar said that people will cast vote based on development and not considering castes.
