Student gangr*ped in Sri Sathya Sai district

Gorantla (Sri Sathya Sai district), May 6: Even before public forgot about the Repalle gangr*pe incident a few days ago, another such incident took place in Sri Sathya Sai district which came to light on Thursday.
 
According to information, a 22-year-old girl of Gorantla town is studying third year in Krishna Teja Pharmacy College in Tirupati. She is having a love affair with Sadik of Mallapalli village, Gorantla mandal for some time. By giving a false promise to marry her, Sadik took her to his room in Mallapalli two days ago. Along with his friends, he gangr*ped her, and murdered her on Thursday. Sadik hanged the victim with her chunni and told the police that the girl hanged herself. 
 
Police shifted the body to hospital for postmortem. DSP Ramakanth visited the hospital.
 
The victim’s parents told their doubts on their daughter’s death to the DSP. Demanding justice, they staged a protest along with the body in front of Gorantla police station till late hours of Thursday. They alleged that the police were trying to protect the accused.
 
The victim’s family members questioned why the police didn’t revealed even though the accused surrendered to the police. They demanded re-postmortem. 
 
Meanwhile, former MP Nimmala Kistappa reached the spot and held discussions with the police on behalf of the victim’s family members. He demanded justice to the victim and Rs 50 lakh ex gratia.
 
DSP Ramakanth assured to conduct postmortem again and will take stringent action against the accused. Murder case was filed against Sadik.
 
Meanwhile, the victim’s relatives alleged that earlier also Sadik cheated a SC woman of Mallapalli in the name of love and made her to commit suicide.
