Farmers seek Centre's intervention to expedite Amaravati's construction

New Delhi: Amravati farmers during their visit to Delhi met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Ministers Narayan Rane and Narendra Singh Tomar. On the occasion, they urged the Union Ministers to expedite the construction work to be undertaken by the Centre in the capital city Amaravati.

During a meeting with MSME Minister Narayan Rane, the farmers raised the issue of setting up a Central Institute of Tool Design in Amravati. The farmers also said that five acres have been allotted for the institute in Shakhamoor on the outskirts of the capital. The farmers also told the Minister that the Central government had paid Rs 20.45 lakh for the land. 

At the same time, they also brought to the notice of the Union Minister the recent High Court judgment that the construction of the capital should be completed expeditiously. After listening carefully to all the statements made by the farmers of the capital, the Union Minister assured the farmers that the foundation stone for the tool design would be laid within the next month.

After concluding their meeting with Narayan Rane, the farmers met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. They discussed various issues related to the agricultural sector with him during the meeting. 

After that, they called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. During the meeting, the farmers briefed the Union Minister on the delay in the capital city construction and the need for the Centre to take the initiative to expedite the construction works. They also urged the Minister about the funds to be released from the Centre and the steps to be taken to set up National Institutes in the capital.
