Parents’ Concerns Lead to Change in AP Half-Day School Timings

In light of the summer season and concerns over student health, schools in Andhra Pradesh have been operating on a half-day schedule. However, due to the ongoing Class 10 board exams, schools serving as examination centers have been conducting afternoon classes. The Class 10 exams begin at 9:30 AM and conclude at 12:45 PM, after which answer sheets are sealed and dispatched from the exam centers. Meanwhile, students from Classes 1 to 9 have been attending school from 1:15 PM.

Parents have raised concerns that students arriving early for afternoon classes are forced to wait in the heat until the completion of exam-related procedures. In response, Minister Nara Lokesh has intervened and issued orders to adjust the schedule. As per his directive, half-day schools will now commence at 1:30 PM instead of 1:15 PM. Consequently, schools that serve as Class 10 exam centers will operate from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
