"Then Don't Dub Tamil Films in Hindi": Pawan Kalyan on Anti-Hindi Stance in Tamil Nadu
Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made striking remarks amid the ongoing political uproar in Tamil Nadu over allegations that the central government is imposing Hindi on the state.
Speaking on the subject, Pawan Kalyan questioned the perceived contradiction in Tamil Nadu's stance. "When we speak, they say we are insulting Sanskrit; they claim Hindi is being forced upon the South. But aren't all Indian languages part of our culture? Tamil Nadu keeps rejecting Hindi, saying they don’t want it. But one thought came to my mind—then don't dub Tamil films in Hindi. They want money from Hindi-speaking states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh; they want workers from Bihar. But at the same time, they say they despise Hindi. How is this fair? This mindset needs to change," he stated.
Emphasizing the need for linguistic harmony, Pawan Kalyan added, "There is no need to hate languages. I always tell Hindus to learn from Muslims. In temples, they say Sanskrit chants shouldn't be recited. But have Muslims ever said they won’t pray in Arabic or Urdu? No matter where they are, they pray in those languages. In Hindu dharma, mantras are in Sanskrit. So should we now start chanting them in Tamil or Telugu?" he questioned.
His remarks come at a time when language politics in India continues to be a contentious issue, particularly in Tamil Nadu, which has historically opposed the imposition of Hindi in the state.
