Mohammed Shami Sets World Record in Champions Trophy Match Against Bangladesh

In the Champions Trophy match between India and Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium, several records were rewritten. India secured a commanding six-wicket victory, marking an impressive start to the tournament.
Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami delivered a sensational five-wicket haul, breaking an all-time record in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He became the fastest bowler to claim 200 ODI wickets in terms of balls bowled, surpassing Australian superstar Mitchell Starc.
Although Shami took two more innings than Starc to reach the milestone, he achieved it in fewer deliveries. Shami reached 200 wickets in 5,126 balls across 104 matches, while Starc required 5,240 balls in 102 innings. With this, Shami now holds the record for the fewest deliveries taken to claim 200 ODI wickets.
Additionally, Shami also broke the record previously held by former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar. While Agarkar took 133 matches to reach 200 wickets, Shami achieved the feat in just 104 games.
