Tirupati Stampede: YS Jagan Visits Victims, Demands Accountability and Compensation

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the victims of the stampede that occurred last night at Vaikunta Dwara Darshan token distribution centers in Tirupati. Several people were injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at Tirupati’s SVIMS Hospital. Jagan personally visited the hospital to meet with the injured and inquired about the details of the incident. He also discussed the nature of the treatment being provided with hospital staff.

Addressing the media afterward, YS Jagan criticized the government, stating, "This incident is a result of the government’s failure." He alleged that negligence on the part of the authorities led to the tragic stampede and demanded that the government take full responsibility for the incident. Jagan called for ex-gratia compensation of ₹50 lakh to be provided to the families of the deceased.

He further emphasized that the government should bear the entire cost of medical treatment for the injured. "Since the victims were injured due to the government’s lapses, free medical care must be provided to them," Jagan said. He added that once the patients recover and are discharged, each of them should be given ₹5 lakh as financial support.
