South Africa's Temba Bavuma Joins Cricket Legends with Historic Test Record
South Africa’s Test cricket captain Temba Bavuma has been making waves with his outstanding performances, both as a player and as a leader. Recently, the South African team registered a 2-0 clean sweep victory over Pakistan in their Test series, elevating Bavuma to join the ranks of legendary cricketers.
Under Bavuma’s captaincy, South Africa has won eight of its first nine Test matches. This remarkable achievement places Bavuma second in the list of captains with the most victories in their first nine Test matches over the past 74 years of cricket history. With this record, Bavuma stands alongside former Australian captains Warwick Armstrong and Lindsay Hassett.
The top spot in this record is still held by former England captain Percy Chapman, who led his team to victory in all of his first nine Test matches. Chapman set this record in 1921, and it remains unmatched to date.
Additionally, South Africa’s series win against Pakistan has secured their place in the ICC World Test Championship Final. The highly anticipated final will be played in June at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in England, where South Africa will face Australia.
