Telugu Girl Sri Charani Selected for WPL – Here Are Her Details!

In the recently concluded Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction, Telugu cricketer Sri Charani was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹55 lakh. Hailing from a rural village in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district, Sri Charani now has the chance to play alongside India’s star players, filling her family and community with immense joy.

Who is Sri Charani?

Sri Charani comes from Erramalle village in Veerapaneni Mandal, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. She belongs to a humble family; her father, Chandrasekhar Reddy, works as a small-time employee at the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project. With her selection in the WPL, her parents, friends, and relatives are overjoyed. The villagers take pride in seeing one of their own representing them on such a grand stage.

WPL 2025 Auction Highlights:

The mini-auction held recently in Bengaluru featured 120 players competing for 19 slots across five franchises. Among them, 91 were Indian players, while 29 were from abroad. Notably, two previously unrecognized Indian players set record prices. Maharashtra batter Simran Baise was signed by Gujarat Giants for a whopping ₹1.90 crore, while Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini was acquired by Mumbai Indians for ₹1.60 crore.

In the WPL’s first season, Mumbai Indians emerged as champions. Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed the title in the second season last year.
