APSRTC Gears Up for Women’s Free Bus Travel Scheme

The Andhra Pradesh government is steadily implementing its election promises, including the much-anticipated free bus travel scheme for women. As part of the "Super Six" welfare initiatives, Chandrababu Naidu had pledged free travel for women in APSRTC buses.

In a significant update, Gannavaram MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao announced on Twitter that the scheme would be implemented starting from the upcoming Sankranti festival. He stated that APSRTC is making necessary arrangements to facilitate this service.

Considering the potential increase in passenger traffic due to the scheme, APSRTC has decided to purchase additional buses. Senior RTC officials have already submitted proposals for new bus acquisitions to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for approval.

Yarlagadda also mentioned that the government is working on a comprehensive policy to ensure that auto drivers do not face financial losses due to the scheme’s implementation. Relevant guidelines are being developed accordingly.
