Another Low-Pressure Area Looms Over AP... More Rain Expected!

Even after Cyclone Fengal crossed the coast, its impact continues to haunt Andhra Pradesh. The cyclone made landfall on Saturday evening, but rainfall persisted in several areas of the state through Tuesday. Districts like Ongole, Chittoor, and Guntur witnessed severe downpours, leading to waterlogged roads and disrupted traffic. In Ongole, locations such as the bus stand junction and Kurnool Road were heavily inundated, causing significant hardships for commuters.

In Chittoor district's Gangadhara Nellore constituency, streams overflowed due to heavy rains. The Maddelavanka stream surged, halting traffic on the Devlampeta-Vedurukuppam main road. Similarly, in Bapatla district, several areas were submerged.

Meanwhile, just as the effects of Cyclone Fengal seemed to be receding, the meteorological department issued another warning for Andhra Pradesh. A new low-pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal between December 9 and 16, potentially intensifying into a depression. If it strengthens near Tamil Nadu, it could significantly impact the southern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Farmers, already concerned about unseasonal rains during the critical harvesting period, are now further worried due to this latest IMD forecast.
