Raghurama Krishnam Raju Named as Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly

TDP MLA Raghurama Krishnam Raju has been finalized as the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu confirmed Raghurama Krishnam Raju’s nomination for the position. After reviewing several candidates, Chandrababu Naidu ultimately favored Raghurama Krishnam Raju (RRR) for the role.

The notification for the Deputy Speaker’s post is expected to be issued on Wednesday or Thursday. If no other candidates file nominations, coalition MLAs are likely to elect him unopposed as the Deputy Speaker, making Raju's appointment a mere formality.

Raghurama Krishnam Raju recently won the MLA seat from the Undi constituency in West Godavari district in the latest elections. Previously, he had contested and won the Narasapuram Lok Sabha seat on behalf of YSRCP in the 2019 elections. However, prior to the 2024 elections, he resigned from YSRCP and joined TDP.
