Chandrababu Emphasizes State Interests Over Positions in Call with Amit Shah
AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah called him regarding the selection of the Lok Sabha Speaker. However, he clarified that this matter does not concern the TDP. He emphasized that the Telugu Desam Party, as a key party in the coalition, is not interested in positions, but rather in the welfare of Andhra Pradesh. Chandrababu conveyed this message to TDP MPs during the parliamentary party meeting held on Sunday. He reiterated that focusing on positions would harm the state's interests and reminded everyone that positions are not their priority.
With TDP having 16 MPs in the current Parliament, Chandrababu directed them to work towards securing more funds for Andhra Pradesh. He suggested allocating three departments to each MP, who should coordinate with the state minister to secure maximum funds from the Centre. Chandrababu urged the MPs to prioritize state interests above all else. In the nearly two-hour-long meeting, decisions were made to expedite the completion of projects like Polavaram and the construction of Amaravati.
With the special session of Parliament commencing on Monday, Chandrababu discussed with the MPs the issues to be raised and the stance to be adopted. Chandrababu appointed MP Srikrishna Devarayalu as the leader of the TDP parliamentary party, Baireddy Shabari as the deputy floor leader, and Daggumalla Prasad as the treasurer.
