EC appoints Harish Kumar Gupta as Andhra Pradesh new DGP

Amaravati: Following the transfer of KV Rajendranath Reddy, who served as the Director-General of Police (DGP) until yesterday, Harish Kumar Gupta has been appointed as the new police chief of the state. The Election Commission issued orders for the appointment of Harish Kumar Gupta as the DGP of Andhra Pradesh today, and this information was conveyed to the state's Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy by the Election Commission.

In light of the transfer of KV Rajendranath Reddy, the Election Commission instructed the Andhra Pradesh government to send a list of three senior Inspector Generals. Consequently, the Andhra Pradesh government recommended the names of Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Harish Kumar Gupta, and Madireddy Pratap based on seniority. From this list, the Election Commission selected Harish Kumar Gupta as the new DGP for Andhra Pradesh.

Harish Kumar Gupta is a 1992 batch IPS officer and is currently serving as the Secretary of the Home Department. In light of his new appointment, the Election Commission has instructed him to assume his duties as the DGP immediately.
