Congress leader Sonia Gandhi takes oath as Rajya Sabha member
New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress Party, has taken the oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha. The oath was administered by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Sonia Gandhi, who has previously represented in the Lok Sabha, has made her first entry into the Rajya Sabha.
She contested for the position previously held by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whose term in the Rajya Sabha ended yesterday. Sonia Gandhi contested from Rajasthan. Alongside Sonia, 12 other individuals were also sworn in as Rajya Sabha members today, including Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who was elected from Odisha.
